Blairgowrie, Rosemount

There are three courses at Blairgowrie Golf Club, in the heart of central Scotland, two of which are 18 hole Championship courses - the Rosemount and the Lansdowne. A feature of all of the Blairgowrie golf courses are tree lined fairways.

The Rosemount course is a highly praised, well presented, inland course which has hosted a number of professional and amateur tournaments. It is one of the best inland courses in Scotland, and where Greg Norman won his first European tour event.

The setting at Blairgowrie is tranquil and charming, without any serious hidden dangers for the golfer if you avoid straying from the fairways. The golf course is maintained to a high standard. Each hole is separated from the other by avenues of mature pine and silver birch. The fairways are reasonably forgiving but the well tended greens are mostly large and undulating.

The original Lansdowne course was designed by Dr Alister Mackenzie, the golf course architect who went on to design Augusta National amongst many others. In 1930 the golf club decided to create a new 18 hole layout using the services of James Braid. Some of the original Mackenzie holes were used in what now became the Rosemount course.
