So you've decided you'd like to play golf in Scotland, but where do you begin your planning? Golfers all around the world want to make a trip to play in Scotland at least once, but bringing a plan together is not as simple as it might first seem.
Do you know how far courses may be apart from each other? Do you understand the issues of securing tee-times on the St Andrews Old course? Do you realise how few 'big name' courses have ride on buggies? Have you any idea of green fee costs? Well, that's why we came up with Golf Independent.
We have taken 10 years' experience of organising golf trips in Scotland for international visitors from around the world and shared our knowledge on this website. All of Scotland's wonderfully diverse golf courses are included - all 556 of them. We have selected 66 courses to feature in more detail, but you are able to browse all Scottish courses, selecting by, for example, course type, number of holes, region or green fee.
We guide you on costs, handicap requirements and contact details. Select courses close to each other, based on our drive time guidance, or start with your preferred accommodation from our suggestions around the country and we show you which courses are nearby.
And all of this is free to use! No fees, no hidden charges, no subscription, just impartial, independent advice, hints and tips from our team. You can also rest assured that no golf course or accommodation has paid to be included on this website so the guidance given is based on our knowledge and experience.
Golf Independent has been created as an easy to use, one stop planning tool for golfers visiting Scotland. To fund our service we include a number of affiliate links across the website to services and products which may earn us commission if you click on them. This makes no difference to what you might pay if you had gone directly to the website to which our link directs you. All affiliate links are indicated by *
We will continue to develop and improve Golf Independent to maintain our aim of it being the best place to research, plan and arrange your golf tour in Scotland.
Joan Moss is the driving force behind Golf Independent. Introduced to golf before she could walk (and with the pictures to prove it) Joan brings over 10 years' experience of working closely with golfers from around the world to create their ideal Scottish golf tour. From her previous role as the creator and Director of a golf tour operator based in Scotland Joan knows what worked for clients, what golfers look for in their tour, as well as the pitfalls in planning a golf trip itinerary.
Her extensive knowledge of Scottish golf and golf tours forms the base of the Golf Independent website, supplemented by Joan's many years in event management and marketing.
