Flights to the Scottish islands are operated by Loganair, currently part of Flybe. Services include Stornoway, Benbecula and Barra as well as Orkney and Shetland.

Perhaps of most interest to golfers will be the services to Campbeltown and Islay. Campbeltown is 10 minutes from Machrihanish, a classic Scottish links where the 1st tee can take in a shot across an Atlantic beach, and 15 minutes from the more recently established but equally dramatic Machrihanish Dunes.

For those wishing to add a day trip with a difference to their golf trip and play at one of these two stunning golf courses on the Kintyre Peninsula, Loganair operate day trips from Glasgow airport which allow for a round of golf on Machrihanish or Machrihanish Dunes and then returning back to Glasgow in time for dinner.

As Campbeltown is close to a 4 hour trip each way by car from central Glasgow this is a great way of fitting in golf at Machrihanish in your golfing itinerary.

Nothing to do with golf, but Loganair also offer a day trip to the Isle of Barra from Glasgow, between November and March - Barra is famous for the runway being on the beach, and the world's only runway for scheduled flights to be washed twice a day by the sea. This trip lets you experience an unique landing and take off with a short stop in between for coffee and cake.
