Edinburgh Airport

Edinburgh Airport is the most convenient arrival point for most of Scotland's best known golf courses. The links of Muirfield, North Berwick and Gullane are less an hour's drive east on the East Lothian coast, the St Andrews links, including the Old course, are less than 90 minutes to the north, while the three Championship courses at the Gleneagles resort and the scenic golf courses of Perthshire are also an hour away.

There are over 40 golf courses within a 30 minute drive of the Airport and just under 180 golf courses within an hour's drive, the largest choice of courses in that drive-time around any of Scotland's airports.

Flights

Edinburgh has scheduled flights to over 80 different European airports, including the largest choice in Scotland of major airline hubs connections. These include:

Edinburgh is directly connected to the United States with scheduled flights operated by United Airlines from Chicago and Newark, and from New York JFK by both American Airlines and Delta.

Direct flights from the Middle East with Qatar Airways from Doha, and with Etihad from Abu Dhabi open up many long haul options.

For golfers from destinations without direct flights Skyscanner.net can be helpful for exploring possible routings.

Car Rental

All the major car rental companies can be found at the airport: Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz, National, Thrifty and Sixt Rent a Car. In addition Scotland's own national car rental company, Arnold Clark is just on the perimeter of the airport with a shuttle service available from outside the terminal building.

Accommodation

There is a Hilton and a Holiday Inn Express close to the airport with a number of other hotels such as Norton House Hotel, the Dakota and Premier Inn Newbridge Premier Inn Edinburgh Park within 15 minutes of the Airport. But staying in the city centre the night before a flight is a very viable option - as Edinburgh Airport is well connected to the city centre by very reliable tram and Airlink bus connections which take half an hour to Princes Street in the heart of the city.
